How is a postpartum recovery garment different than shapewear?
Shapewear, or spanx, isn’t designed to make any lasting changes to your body, it’s made to act as a temporary fix. A postpartum recovery garment, however, is specifically created to facilitate long-term, lasting changes as your body restores itself after delivery. It will help bring your abdominal muscles back together and avoid persistent diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation). It is designed to support both your pelvic floor and abdomen and promote good posture. Finally, it is an FDA-listed medical device eligible for coverage by your insurance company.
How should my Maternity Compression feel against my body?
Motif Maternity Compression Garments are designed to hug the body and provide secure support. The one thing to remember is that your compression garment is meant to compress, but not to be painful. The ultimate goal of compression is to provide you with additional support, not to slim your waist or make you look smaller. The garment should gently squeeze but not displace any of your internal organs. You can find more information here. Please refer to our size guide before choosing your garment.
