How does the Clean-Z work?
The Clean-Z sanitizes the germs, mold and bacteria in your CPAP mask and tubing using Ozone (also known as O3 or activated oxygen) and is proven to be 99.99% effective at destroying harmful microorganisms.
What is Ozone?
Ozone is a safe disinfecting agent. Ozone is a natural and man-made reactive gas composed of three oxygen atoms. Similar technologies are used in the medical and water treatment industries for sanitization.
Is Ozone safe?
One Ozone comes in contact with the air it quickly dissipates. However, it can have a smell and we encourage you to use the Clean-Z bag and filter properly in order to prevent ozone from leaking from the bag.
How often should I use the Clean- Z?
The Clean-Z can be used once daily.
How should I care for my CPAP equipment now that I use the Clean-Z?
The Clean-Z is meant to sanitize the equipment and rid it of any harmful bacteria or viruses. However, the Clean-Z does not remove facial oils, or particulate matter which can build up on your equipment. The mask and tubing will still need to be washed and cleaned regularly to remove dirt oils and other particles. We suggest using unscented soap to do so, as this will not interact with the ozone and cause an extra smell.
What is the smell that I'm smelling with the Clean- Z? Is it harmful to me?
Users can smell Ozone even at extremely low levels, and it is not uncommon to smell Ozone for a short period of time during and after using the Clean-Z. Place the Clean-Z in a well ventilated area when using to help the smell dissipate.
The first few times you use your Clean-Z there may be extra smell afterwards. Do not that the Ozone will interreact with any residues on your mask and equipment, such a scented soap, or vinegar used to clean these items previously. This smell should become less prevalent as the Clean Z is used more often on that equipment. To reduce the odor, use unscented soap when cleaning your CPAP equipment.
If you noticed a very strong odor, which is getting stronger over time, please contact our customer service team for further assistance.
How long do I need to wait before using my CPAP equipment after sanitization?
After sanitization wait at least an hour before using the CPAP mask and tubing to ensure no Ozone residue remains.
My mask and tubing smell after using the Clean- Z, how can I fix that?
Connect your mask and tubing to your CPAP machine and let it run for an hour before use, this will help flush out any residual smell from the equipment.
My CPAP equipment is getting slimey, or discolored since I have started using my Clean-Z? Why is this happening?
The Clean-Z is meant to sanitize the equipment and rid it of any harmful bacteria or viruses, but it does not remove facial oils and other particles from equipment. The mask and tubing will still need to be washed and cleaned regularly to remove dirt oils and other particles. We suggest using unscented soap to do so, as this will not interact with the ozone and cause an extra smell.
